First, we’d like to apologize for the slow down in posts this week. One of our team members had surgery this week. Many well wishes are being sent his way.
Now, the social media information you’ve been waiting for:
As of January 31, 2012, you will no longer see the Tweets Application on LinkedIn. It will be removed from all profiles and the homepage. The Tweets Application allowed users to keep track of their LinkedIn connections on Twitter, display recent tweets, and engage on Twitter directly from your LinkedIn home page. Although LinkedIn states the application was barely being used, there is an outcry of people complaining about the changes.

Here’s the reason LinkedIn provided about the change:
“Why is LinkedIn doing this?
At LinkedIn, we want to provide a simple and efficient experience for members like you. So from time to time, we take a look at our set of features to evaluate how they’re being used by our members. Part of this process sometimes means we decide to eliminate a feature, so we can better invest those resources in building more great LinkedIn products.”

LinkedIn has also stated it will be investing more into Signal and LinkedIn Today.

What do you think about the removal of the Tweets application? Tell us in the comments below.

Wow I did not know about this until reading your article. To be honest, I had it set up to display my tweets onto LinkedIn but I’m not too disappointed that I won’t be able to do this anymore. I only use LinkedIn for business purposes and don’t go on there to read my connections recent tweets.

Hi Alex – glad you found our article and it was helpful. You can always still display tweets into your updates stream, if you choose to do so. You can adjust your settings to autopost your tweets or just post tweets with the #in hashtag. Something to think about.
